Angels of the Valley Down in the valley below I wandered for a while And I thought that there was no way out Until I saw the angel smile And the bands kept on playing their songs Of darkness and dismay But then a melody came from afar Bring back a brighter day My angels of the valley Won't you hear my plead Wrap your arms around me Wipe away the tears Then one day I woke up at dawn I knew they'd disappeared Once I prayed may forever they stay The ones I hold so dear I can still hear the songs they once sang Echo in the hall I remember the joy they could bring Still, hear their distant call My angels of the valley Won't you hear my plead Let your love surround me Wipe away the years

The Perennial Season There's a book I want to read to you Though we know that there will be no happy end While going through its pages we may find That it doesn't mean a thing Though I was searchin' high and low Love can be a burden for a traveling man There's no point in vengeance sweet memory will die If you hate me then After all these years Can we start a new Get rid of all those things that bring us down And shake off the blues If I was a sailor I would sail along the borderline of sanity Sometimes it simply seems that I don't know Neither who nor where I am And I chanced to meet a man Who's said to be a master of humility Makes me understand that all my senses will perceive Is just a scam After all this time Can we still start again Good riddance to the things that hold us back Regain our innocence

Innocence and Passion Brown-skinned and perfect I came into this world To learn how to fail And as the tempests raged over my head I learned I wasn't frail The Lord had mercy on me Gave me a companion That never would walk out on me Those days of innocence I remember you were a friend of mine Those days of exuberance We were untouched by the hands of time And when we lied down on the grass We wished that the moment would last forever You said, be careful they're coming at you And they are catching up They tie you down make you spinning the wheel That will never stop And the moments that you felt free Will be nothing but a memory, so long ago One day you'll wake up and find There are new people in the game You see the way they are looking at you And you think it's a shame Maybe one day they will understand That youth is not accomplishment No, not at all Horse was the drug of the seventies Well I don't know though I'm pretty sure If people are still doin' it now We looked down upon those doobie boys Oh how we thought, we were some kind of elite But then again we lost too many people Along the way How does it feel to come back from a trip And see your friend has passed away And we went from station to station And we sent a telegram to Sam We checked in at the Hotel California But we won't get fooled again She surely was the cutest girl in town Surprisingly she had a crush on me We went down to our local greasy lake And we planned to play some outdoor games Then we tore off our clothes And rolled naked in the mud And the sight of her body Would have mad Kerry King believe in God We could fly like an eagle In the year of the cat And we danced like spirits in the night Wearing a tall hat Like the people from the Beltane Those were the days my friend I wish they would never end But they went too fast But there is one thing still here on my mind That is going to last And as you're coming of age Better listen to the words of the sage What did he say Maybe one day you'll come here again So better listen to the wise man And what did he say He said Passion doesn't age Passion doesn't age Passion doesn't age Passion doesn't age

Call of the Bell I remember those childhood Sundays Every full hour A stone throw away from home They struck the bells up in the tower It was such a pagan sound From a Christian church It's clang got me mesmerized Took me to another world The ringing of the bells became The soundtrack to my life Rather traveling hopefully Than ever to arrive And all attempts at corporate life Were destined to fail And the train they had put me on Early jumped the rails The voices of the gods Got me under a spell I never can resist The call of the bell The call of the bell The call of the bell We made love on velvet mornings And in the dim light of dusk Looked into life's friendly face A glimpse behind the mask And the bells rang in the distance A whisper and a sigh And we fell asleep before The singer said goodnight The voices of the gods Got me under a spell I never can resist The call of the bell The call of the bell The call of the bell

A Memorable Day After all the pain and hardship I hitched a ride down south Coming all the way from Paris In a reconstructed hearse And we listened to Libertango In a version by Grace Jones And the sky turned red and golden While we drove along the Rhone They invited me for supper The moment we reached Avignon On that memorable day That memorable day, oh yeah On a memorable day We went from Berlin to Hamburg And she offered me a pill Riding through a communist country Like that gave us some kind of thrill And a truck had lost a pebble Turned our windscreen into a kaleidoscope Then the hippie in the backseat Said, iI only was on dope And we laughed and laughed our asses off And if the driver's looks could kill On that memorable day That memorable day, oh yeah On a memorable day We were riding in a posh car And we listened to Nick Drake And we smelled the scent of summer As we cruised along the lake Watched the old folks doing chi gong In the fading light of day Watched the young ones chase each other It has always been that way And when we went on our way home We thought that life was beautiful and sad On that memorable day That memorable day, oh yeah On a memorable day

Take the World The preacher and the acolytes Found the key to the truth And their purpose is to save the world Friend or foe - you gotta choose High and mighty on their pedestal Came to lecture all mankind There's no tolerance for deviance Renegades gotta die If you wanna make the world a better place You might as well make it worse Maybe you won't be the last I wonder who came first The rivers and the oceans Can never quench that thirst So take the world As it is, as it is Take the world Take it as it is Their intentions may be good But they're on their way to hell And I wonder will they ever learn Will they ever break the spell I'm not talkin' fatalism But there's one thing you must decide If you wanna change the world You better start changing you're mind If you wanna make the world a better place You might as well make it worse Maybe you won't be the last I wonder who came first The rivers and the oceans Can never quench that thirst So take the world As it is, as it is Take the world Take it as it is

about

Frank Ventura Berlin, Germany

It took me 40 years in the music business to finish my first solo album. I played for many bands as a studio and live musician, I wrote songs for others, I wrote movie and TV soundtracks and I played a lot live. But now it's finally time to go solo. I sing and play several instruments: guitar, bass, keyboards and saxophone and I combine melodic singer songwriter folk with progressive or art rock ... more
